We sat down with our Chief Brewing Officer, Eric Anderson, to get his insight on how he merged two art forms into one flavor packed brew.
“This isn’t the first time the Tobyraps name has seen the likes of Saucy’s Artist Collective Series; with features on ZuP and Apostle Jones, Sweet Catastrophe makes this Tobyraps’ turkey! Over a beer and a bite, we talked through his project and decided to make a big, bold, thick boi stout built for sipping and head bobbing. Our collaboration beer supports the third in a series of EP releases, and the catastrophe of it all is a wild mix of ingredients – a more introspective and deep beer, much like the EP. Expect sweet vanilla, house-roasted rich cacao nibs, a touch of cayenne pepper, maple syrupy goodness from the candy cap mushrooms and actual maple syrup, finished with a hint of toasted coconut, all weighing in at 10% ABV. Chaotic creativity allowed the nature of the song to shape the artwork. Forget everything you’ve been told. Don’t be afraid to let loose. Let your mind take you where it wants to go.
A mix of colors, lines, and shapes creates a graffiti-like collage – almost like splattered paint on a wall. Imagery of items mentioned in the song surrounds the title without rhyme or reason, a true depiction of creativity for its own sake. The word “Catastrophe” is split in half with no hyphen, defying convention. The rule-breaking never ends! There is beauty in chaos.
