THE ROSIES

Born in a basement, cultivated in the Ohio DIY scene, to finally blossoming on their own stages, The Rosies possess a sound they’ve grown to call and be known for as their own; enter Lake Erie Surf Punk. Taking on influences of west coast surf/skate punk and NYC garage rock as well as locals in the Cleveland scene before them, The Rosies have been delivering captivating live performances since their explosive return to the live stage in 2021. Their music is best known for the angsty yet feel good lyrics and huge anthemic sound which have all seemed to come together on their debut album “Welcome to the Rose Garden.”

Having opened for acts such as Beach Goons, Wavves, and Oso Oso whilst also championing memorable sets at 2022 Cleveland festivals Brite Winter and Ingenuity Fest, it is abundantly clear The Rosies are right where they should be. When asked what keeps them going and makes their sound and show so enjoyable the band will joyfully tell you, it’s rule #1. Have fun.

Jam the album, come to a show and find out what’s so inviting about the rose garden. You won’t want to leave.

The Rosies are: Jonathan Cropper (guitar/vox), Ryan Riebe (drums/percussion), Joe Figureoa (guitar/vox), and Sal Corrao (bass/backing vox).

THE ART OF BREWING

“Meeting with the Rosies to start working on our beer collaboration was a riot! It always starts with the music, so I hit repeat on their playlist and probably looked like a crazy person jamming in my car all week. These guys are absolutely electric and I knew the beer had to match their energy.

We all met at the brewery, grabbed a beer, and walked around the playground. It was fun listening to the guys hash out between themselves what they thought we should make together. Ideas were all over the board and mostly awesome haha. The consistent theme I did hear was “cheap beer and tequila”. They also thought it would be cool to have a rosy tint to the beer as a nod to their fans that they’ve dubbed “The Rose Garden”.

As a brewery, we can’t legally introduce tequila to the brew, but I thought if we went down the road of a tequila cocktail that we could get real close to that flavor. And so was born “KILL YER TV”, Paloma-Style blonde ale that is light hazy pink, super drinkable, and loaded with real grapefruit, lime and lemon purées. This beer almost makes me want to go surfing this winter!

DESIGN + AESTHETICS

After learning that Kill Yer Tv came from the lyrics of “Know Good”, our designer started listening through all The Rosies’ music to get a feel for who they are. They’ve got this great new wave/post-punk revival feel that makes you want to head bang and dance around. Some of the key themes we pulled from talking with one of the band members were being yourself, introspection, their feelings about society/the system, and above all having a good time.

The Rosies came to us with a concept in mind. They wanted an old style tv with a bullet hole in it. While looking through all their artwork on social, our designer knew right away she wanted to use a personified TV: a  reoccurring object in a lot of The Rosies covers & graphics. Combining the signature Saucy style with elements from the 50s and punk, she created this killer label. The punk vibes will have any drinker ready to stick it to the man!
